For your information, it's useful to know that most of the cPanel-based Hosting offerings on the present website hosting market are supplied by a very insubstantial business niche (when it comes to annual capital flow) named hosting reseller. Reseller web hosting is a kind of a small-scale marketing niche, which generates an enormous amount of different web hosting trademarks, yet furnishing precisely the same solutions: chiefly cPanel web hosting services. This is bad news for everyone. Why? Because at least ninety eight percent of the website hosting offerings on the whole web hosting market offer the same thing: cPanel. There's no variety at all. Even the cPanel-based Hosting price tags are alike. Very identical. Giving those in need of a top web hosting service almost no other web hosting platform/website hosting CP alternative. So, there is merely one fact: out of more than 200,000 hosting brand names worldwide, the non-cPanel based ones are less than 2%! Less than two percent, remark that one...

Two hundred thousand "Hosting distributors", all cPanel-based, yet distinctly labeled

The Hosting "variety" and the website hosting "offers" Google reveals to us come down to merely one thing: cPanel. Under 100's of 1000's of different web hosting trademarked names. Imagine you are only an average guy who's not well aware of (as the majority of us) with the web site creation procedures and the website hosting platforms, which in fact power the respective domains and web portals. Are you prepared to make your hosting pick? Is there any web hosting alternative you can choose? Sure there is, today there are more than two hundred thousand web hosting service providers in existence. Formally. Then where is the problem? Here's where: more than ninety eight percent of these 200k+ different web hosting brands worldwide will give you the same cPanel Control Panel and platform, named in a different way, with literally the same price tags! WOW! That's how vast the diversity on the current web hosting market is... Full stop.

The Hosting LOTTERY we are all participating in

Simple arithmetic shows that to chance upon a non-cPanel based web hosting service provider is a gigantic stroke of fortune. There is a less than 1 in fifty chance that a phenomenon like that will take place! Less than one in 50...

The strong and weak sides of the cPanel-based Hosting solution

Let's not be relentless with cPanel. After all, in the years 2001-2004 cPanel was modish and perhaps met most web hosting business demands. In brief, cPanel can do the job for you if you have just one single domain name to host. But, if you have more domains...

Negative Side No.1: A laughable domain folder configuration

If you have two or more domain names, however, be ultra attentive not to erase entirely the add-on ones (that's how cPanel will call each subsequent hosted domain, which is not the default one: an add-on domain). The files of the add-on domain names are quite simple to erase on the web server, since they all are created into the root folder of the default domain name, which is the quite well known public_html folder. Each add-on domain name is a folder placed inside the folder of the default domain. Like a sub-folder. Next time attempt not to delete the files of the add-on domain names, please. Observe for yourself how excellent cPanel's domain name folder arrangement is:

public_html (here my-default-domain.com is situated)
public_html/my-family (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-domain.com (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-second-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-wife.net (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-third-domain.com (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-third-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-third-wife.net (an add-on domain)
public_html/rebeka (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/rebeka.my-third-wife.net (a sub-domain of an add-on domain)

Are you getting disorientated? We certainly are!

Downside Number 2: The very same mail folder system

The email folder configuration on the hosting server is absolutely the same as that of the domain names... Making the same mistake twice?!? The admin guys strongly strengthen their faith in God when tackling the electronic mail folders on the electronic mail server, praying not to screw things up too irreparably.

Weak Point Number 3: An absolute absence of domain name management menus

Do we need to point out the thorough shortage of a contemporary domain name management platform - a location where you can: register/relocate/renew/park or administer domains, alter domain names' Whois info, protect the Whois information, edit/set up name servers (DNS) and DNS resource records? cPanel does not offer such a "modern" GUI at all. That's a colossal downside. An unpardonable one, we want to add...

Disadvantage No.4: Many user login locations (minimum two, maximum 3)

How about the need for an extra login to use the billing, domain name and technical support management menu? That's beside the cPanel user account login credentials you've been already supplied by the cPanel Hosting distributor. Now and then, on the basis of the billing system (especially meant for cPanel exclusively) the cPanel Hosting provider is using, the zealous users can wind up with 2 additional login locations (1: the billing transaction/domain administration menu; 2: the ticket support user interface), winding up with an aggregate of 3 user login places (counting cPanel).

Negative Aspect No.5: 120+ web hosting Control Panel departments to memorize... fast

cPanel presents for your consideration more than 120 menus inside the web hosting CP. It's a great idea to memorize each of them. And you'd better become acquainted with them briskly... That's extremely impudent on cPanel's side.

With all due veneration, we have a rhetorical question for all cPanel-based Hosting vendors:

As far as we are informed, it's not the year 2001, is it? Note that one as well...
